It’s important when you end the love affair to use phrases that show that you are committed to ending the tryst and to recommitting yourself to your marriage. A phrase like “I want to make my marriage work and am recommitting myself to my spouse and family, so please don’t contact me again” send the proper message without going overboard. On the other hand if you use words like “I’d like to try to work on my marriage”, then you are showing weakness that leaves the door open in the mind of your affair partner. You don’t want them to question your resolve, so make sure that there’s strength in your words.
When an ex lover becomes a stalker, things go quickly spiral out of control. At this point, you may need to involve the police and get a protection order. When this happens, you will unfortunately have to let your spouse know. That’s why it’s so important when having an affair that you choose the proper partner and that you are very honest upfront about what type of relationship you are looking for. The more truthful you are at the beginning of the affair, the more likely that it will be amicable if and when the times comes to break it off.
